Eugene Laverty is bristling with confidence in the wake of his magnificent fourth place in the Argentina MotoGP as the Aspar Ducati rider targets the top ten this weekend in Austin, Texas.

Laverty claimed his best result in the premier class on the GP14.2 at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, finishing as the top non-factory rider and leading Ducati behind Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa.

The Northern Ireland rider, who matched his previous best result of 12th in the season opener in Qatar last month, is eager to maintain his momentum at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend and is optimistic of another solid performance.

"I arrive in Austin with a lot of confidence after the fantastic result in Argentina. I really want to keep the moment going and finish this weekend with another top ten or twelve," said the 29-year-old.

"I want to be consistent and to continue in the points. Last year at Austin I finished 16th but now I have a year of experience under my belt. It is a physical circuit with a long straight but I think we can do well there."

Meanwhile, Laverty's Colombian team-mate, Yonny Hernandez, is keen to make amends in the third round of the championship after crashing out in Argentina.

"I have had some good results in the past in Austin so I hope luck can be on our side once again this weekend. In Argentina I got a good start and was putting together a fight-back similar to Qatar but I couldn't complete it because of the crash," he said.

"We are going to keep working hard and fighting all the way to achieve the result we deserve this Sunday in Austin".
