MotoGP Spain: Iannone eager to keep moving forward

'After my first podium in Texas two weeks ago I believe that we have the potential to continue in this positive direction' - Andrea Iannone.
Andrea Iannone received a welcome boost when the Ducati rider clinched a podium result in Austin after coming under heavy criticism for his last lap tangle with team-mate Andrea Dovizioso in Argentina.

Iannone rammed into Dovizioso as the pair battled for the runner-up spot, denying Ducati a certain double rostrum for the GP15 at the Termas de Rio Honda circuit.

The Italian was the subject of some scathing condemnation in the aftermath and admitted in Texas that the incident had been the most difficult period of his career to date.

However, Iannone eased some of the pressure with a third place at the Circuit of the Americas and the 26-year-old is eager to continue in the same vein this weekend at Jerez.

“Now we are back in Europe at Jerez, which is where I won in Moto2 in 2011 and which is a track I like a lot,” Iannone said.

“After my first podium in Texas two weeks ago I believe that we have the potential to continue in this positive direction, especially because the Desmosedici GP is really a very competitive machine.

“For this reason I'm excited about coming to Spain, and can't wait to continue the good job I'm doing with my team."

I think Iannone will still win a race this year, but I also feel these contract discussions may plague him a little bit, he will either go gung ho or be very subdued, after his 2017 plans are confirmed I think Iannone will be up at contesting for wins/podiums more so.
