Dani Pedrosa refused to comment any further on increasing rumours that he will switch from Honda to Yamaha in MotoGP next season.

A Friday night report in the Spanish media claimed the move would now happen - Pedrosa thus replacing Ducati-bound Jorge Lorenzo.

Suzuki's Maverick Vinales had been favourite for the vacant Yamaha seat, alongside Valentino Rossi, with the first Pedrosa rumours emerging last time at Jerez.

Quizzed about the latest report that a Yamaha deal is done, Pedrosa told the assembled media: "Today I will not answer any questions about this, because I already said on Thursday, the situation is the same as it was in Jerez."

But news has been published [last night]?

"I can tell you [louder], but not more clear. I will not answer these questions, because on Thursday, I already said the situation is the same. So today is Saturday, tomorrow is race day, and my main focus now is for the race."

Pedrosa's mood was not helped by a fall during Saturday's qualifying session, leaving him to start a season-worst eleventh on the grid in the French GP.

"Nothing special happened, I just lost the front," he said of his spill at the first chicane. "Unfortunately my second bike was not exactly the same, and I cannot make any improvement on my first lap time.

"So I dropped so many positions, and it was the worst qualifying of the year, and for a long time. So now I have to try to focus on the start and for the race."

Pedrosa has suffered with the harder construction Michelin rear tyres used in recent events, but a new 'less stiff' construction is on offer at Le Mans.

"Looks [better]," he said. "It's faster than the other one. I don't know really how the tyre will be in the race, but it looks like every time everyone puts this tyre on, the lap times are going faster."

Pedrosa's team-mate Marc Marquez, also yet to sign for 2017, qualified in second place.

Meanwhile, Vinales posted this image and caption on Instagram earlier today. Make of it what you will...

Giveway: It is true then...[\blockquote]

Well if we keep in mind what Stoner did "No, I won't leave Ducati for Honda"
"No, I won't quit" it could probably a done deal.
