Valentino Rossi says everything is in place to enable him to challenge for victory on his home patch this weekend in front of thousands of partisan Italian fans at Mugello.

The Movistar Yamaha rider admits that the huge weight of expectation on his shoulders at his home race makes adds to the challenge he faces at Mugello, but Rossi has issued a confident assessment as the legendary venue hosts the sixth round of the MotoGP World Championship this weekend.

"I love Mugello and its atmosphere. It's very difficult for me to keep my concentration here because there are always so many of my friends and fans around, but the Mugello race is also special for me for that reason," Rossi said.

"I've had some victories here, many great battles and a lot of good memories. I think this year we can be competitive because our bike is good and I'm getting into a good shape.

"At the Le Mans GP we arrived late at achieving the right set up for the race, at Mugello we will not make this mistake again," added The Doctor.

"After Le Mans I'm relaxed and now I'm ready to try to attain the maximum level of concentration for the Mugello GP."

Rossi previously set a record of seven back-to-back premier class wins at Mugello from 2002 to 2008 and heads into his home race in strong form following a runner-up finish at Le Mans.

Should be a good race between the 2 Yams, although that missile of a Ducati won't be easy to beat here!
