MotoGP Italy: Surgery for injured Rabat

Tito Rabat will undergo surgery after breaking his collarbone on Saturday at the Italian MotoGP.
Update: The Marc VDS team has now confirmed that Tito Rabat will undergo surgery.

Tito Rabat has been ruled out of the remainder of the Italian MotoGP weekend after fracturing his collarbone in Saturday morning practice.

The rookie lowsided from his Marc VDS Honda at Biondetti 1 (Turn 13) on the out-lap of the FP3 session, breaking his left collarbone.

The Spaniard was transferred to the local Borgo San Lorenzo hospital for X-rays as doctors assess his condition and treatment.

Team principal Michael Bartholemy said: “It is unfortunate for Tito who crashed at a fast section of the circuit and we are not sure of his medical situation at the moment, the doctors are still assessing if he will need surgery on his collarbone to be ready for his home GP [next time out] in Barcelona."

Bad luck for Tito, he was on his out lap. Maybe cold tyres? Anyway, these guys are tough... Edwards got a podium 8 days after breaking his collarbone, so who knows? Best of luck for the bone repairs and recovery.
