MotoGP: Rossi, Lorenzo get new Yamaha frame for Assen

"Yes, the new chassis will be available for both riders at Assen" - Yamaha.
Yamaha has confirmed that its new chassis will be available for Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo at the forthcoming Assen MotoGP round.

After a positive first impression with the frame at the official Catalunya post-race test, the Movistar Yamaha riders returned for a further day of private testing on the Tuesday.

“The main task [for tomorrow] is to decide which chassis is better. If we conclude that the new frame is better, we might have it ready at the next round in Assen,” team director Massimo Meregalli had explained.

While no official information was provided following the private test, a team spokesman has told Crash.net: “Yes, the new chassis will be available for both riders at Assen.”

Lorenzo is now ten points behind Honda's Marc Marquez in the championship standings, with Catalunya winner Rossi closing to within 22-points of the top.

On the form he has shown all this year, even when he did not win, it is hard to see past Valentino. 9 Assen wins, 7 in the premier class, Home from Home. Fast, even when his engine blows up or he crashes. Jorge does not like Assen in the premier class, the circuit does not suit his style - only 1 win in the premier class. Marc rode a great Assen last year but Barcelona was, in my mind, as big a psychological point in the season as there can be : it confirmed to everyone, Valentino himself included, that he is very fast this year, and in their praise towards him, both Marc and Jorge have shown they fear him the most for this year's title. Last year the fear was on Valentino's side to some extent, ie. "could he hold onto his points lead until the end", this year his extra speed gives him more confidence and Marc and Jorge can see it - the fear is on their side now ! Valentino to finally get his first 2 in a row since his return to Yamaha.
