Moto2: Sam Lowes ready to start 'new charge for the title’

"We are determined to fight to get back on the podium and thus start a new charge for the title" - Sam Lowes.
Fresh from his MotoGP debut during a private test for Aprilia, Sam Lowes is determined to 'start a new charge' for the Moto2 title this weekend in Germany.

The Englishman is just five points behind joint leaders Alex Rins and Johann Zarco heading in to the final event before the summer break.

While Lowes and his Gresini team believe they took a wrong turn with the set-up of their Kalex at Assen, they have the race-winning data to refer to this weekend at Sachsenring, courtesy of Xavier Simeon in 2015.

“I can't wait to get back on track at Sachsenring: we are just 5 points off the top of the standings, so we are determined to fight to get back on the podium and thus start a new charge for the title.

“After the race at Assen, which was a bit strange with the red flag in the final stages, I feel confident and I know that I can pick up a good result: the team has very good data available for this circuit and their victory in 2015 proves it.”

Team principal Fausto Gresini added: “Before heading to Germany we have had time to analyse several aspects, so we arrive at Sachsenring ready to do very well.

“We are just 5 points off Championship lead: the fight is really tight and difficult, but this is nothing new, we knew it from the beginning. In addition, Zarco recently came back very competitive, so now we have to try to react, but we are confident because we know that we can succeed.”
