MotoGP Germany: Lorenzo escapes injury in fast FP1 fall

Jorge Lorenzo was one of three riders to fall at the notorious Turn 11 'Waterfall' corner in the opening minutes of MotoGP FP1 at Sachsenring.

While Scott Redding before him, and Stefan Bradl moments after, were unharmed - reigning world champion Lorenzo needed precautionary checks on his left hand and wrist.

Fortunately the Movistar Yamaha rider, 24 points from title leader Marc Marquez, did not sustain any fractures.

Turn 11 is the only fast right hander on the tight and twisty Sachsenring circuit, with the cool and damp Friday morning weather making it especially treacherous.

Michelin is offering asymmetric front tyre compounds, with a softer right hand side, for the first time this weekend.

All riders are now back in the pits due to spots of rain.
