UPDATE: Good news! Bradley Smith does not have a broken femur:

MotoGP star Bradley Smith is feared to have broken his femur during practice for this weekend's Oschersleben World Endurance event.

The Englishman, part of last year's victorious Suzuka 8 Hours team, agreed to get back on an R1 to try and help Yamaha's official YART team snatch the EWC title in Sunday's season finale.

However Smith is reported to have broken a femur during a practice accident which, if confirmed, would rule the Tech 3 Yamaha rider out of at least several races - starting with his home British MotoGP at Silverstone.

Smith is now in hospital, waiting to undergo X-rays.

Unconfirmed reports suggest Smith may have suffered the leg injuries, which also include a cut behind his knee, after tangling with another rider.
