Valentino Rossi is prepared is prepared to 'go over the maximum' as the Movistar Yamaha rider targets victory at his home MotoGP race at Misano in Italy.
Rossi was left bitterly disappointed after an engine failure at Mugello earlier in the season thwarted his prospects of standing on the rostrum in front of his partisan fans but The Doctor will have another chance this weekend to send his supporters into a frenzy in San Marino.
The 37-year-old reduced Marc Marquez's title advantage by three points to 50 points at Silverstone and Rossi will be hoping he can close the gap further on Sunday.
“Next week at Misano will be the most special weekend of the season, because Misano is my race, it's my home. Usually we are quite good there, so we hope to be competitive,” Rossi said.
“There will be a great atmosphere: a lot of fans, a lot of people around and also a lot of pressure, so we have to try to give 20 per-cent more than the maximum.”
Rossi, who has won three times in MotoGP at Misano in 2008, 2009 and 2014, finished on the podium at Silverstone in third place to move 14 points clear of team-mate Jorge Lorenzo in the championship shake-up.
