Andrea Dovizioso says expectations for Ducati's home MotoGP race at Misano are high this weekend as the Italian rider sets out to make amends after suffering with arm pump at Silverstone.

Dovizioso finished in seventh place last weekend in the British Grand Prix but feels he was denied the opportunity of a stronger result.

With Ducati's headquarters based only a short drive away from the Misano circuit, Dovizioso will be extra motivated to claim his maiden rostrum at his home circuit on the Desmosedici GP16 on Sunday.

"It's a pity about last Sunday, because we could have got a better result had it not been for the problem with my forearm, but I'm happy to get back on track again right away at Misano, where expectations are higher than Silverstone for sure.

"We did a test here at the end of August and, apart from the crash at the end of the day, we worked well and I feel confident, even though we'll only find out during the weekend."

Dovizioso has finished fourth on four occasions in MotoGP since 2008, missing the podium by a single place in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Meanwhile, Ducati test rider Michele Pirro will make another wild card appearance on a third factory GP16 this weekend.

Pirro, who hails from southern Italy, is under no illusions over the importance of Sunday's race to Ducati.

"I hope that I can get some satisfaction at Misano, especially after everything that's happened in the CIV championship. In any case this is an important weekend for our team, because after our first win at Zeltweg we have shown that we can be competitive at every circuit," said Pirro, who qualified in fifth place last year at Misano and finished the race in 10th place.

"I'm ready to tackle this weekend with the Test Team and as always I'll be doing my best to get a good result for me and for Ducati."
