MotoGP Aragon: Laverty: Turning key to top ten fight

"It's a good track for me and we are going for the top ten - we need it in order to keep in the fight for tenth in the World Championship" - Eugene Laverty.
Eugene Laverty has good memories of Aragon from a podium in World Superbike and finishing as the top Open rider with 14th in last year's MotoGP race.

But the Irishman has higher targets for this weekend, setting his sights on what would be a fifth top-ten of the season as he seeks to close a 12-point gap to fellow Ducati GP14.2 rider Hector Barbera in the fight for tenth in the world championship.

Improving the turning ability of his Aspar-run Desmosedici could be key to achieving that goal.

"At Misano, the problem we had is with turning the bike. It meant that I lost a lot of time in the tight sections. That is where we struggled last weekend and where we have to improve. We'll try to do that at Aragon," said Laverty, who is returning to World Superbikes with Milwaukee Aprilia next season.

"I've put in a lot of laps there in World Superbikes and also won the Open class last season, so it's a good track for me and we are going for the top ten there - that's always the goal, and we need it in order to keep in the fight for tenth in the World Championship."
