MotoGP: Repsol extends Honda title sponsorship

One of the most recognisable liveries in MotoGP will continue until at least 2018.
Repsol will continue as title sponsor of the factory Honda MotoGP team until at least the end of the 2018 season.

A new contract has been agreed to extend one of the longest and most successful partnerships in motorsport, which began in 1995 and has since produced 12 riders' titles, 151 race victories and 392 podiums in the 500cc/MotoGP class.

Reigning triple MotoGP champion Marc Marquez and team-mate Dani Pedrosa have already signed to remain at Repsol Honda for the next two seasons.

"We are delighted with the renewal of the agreement with our title sponsor Repsol through the end of 2018,2 said HRC's general manager of race operations Tetsuhiro Kuwata. "This year we celebrated together our 12th MotoGP World Title in 22 years of collaboration, an amazing achievement in the history of the motorcycle World Championship.

"This record demonstrates the great value of this partnership which, in addition to including a great sponsorship agreement, has also benefitted us with crucial technological development. We are proud to continue working with Repsol through 2018 and hopefully many more years beyond!"
