A fuel sample taken from the motorcycle of Esteve Rabat after the 125cc German Grand Prix, at the Sachsenring on July 13, was found 'not in accordance' with Art. 2.11.2 of the 2008 FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations.

Art. 2.11.2 lists the minimum and maximum values for various characteristics of FIM Grand Prix specification unleaded petrol.

"[Rabat] requested a counter-test with the B sample, which confirmed the results of the A sample analysis," read an FIM statement. "For this reason, the Race Direction, in a hearing held today [Thursday] at the Brno circuit, decided to exclude Esteve Rabat from the results of the German Grand Prix, according to Art. and 12 of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations."

Rabat, who rides for Repsol KTM, had finished ninth in the race and was holding 15th in the world championship standings. No appeal was lodged.
