Casey Stoner, who fell from lead of Sunday's Czech Republic Grand Prix, was fastest of all on the first day of post-race testing at Brno.

Stoner set his best lap time on race tyres and finished over one-second ahead of world championship leader Valentino Rossi, winner of Sunday's race.

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa abandoned a planned appearance on Honda's pneumatic-valve RC212V after finding no improvement in grip from some new front tyres brought to the test by Michelin.

Pedrosa, who limped home a furious 15th in Sunday's race, decided there was 'no point' in riding the pneumatic under such circumstances and halted testing after just eleven laps. Honda test rider Tady Okada, brought in to replace the injured Nicky Hayden, rode 67 laps on the pneumatic-valve bike, but was slowest of all.

A second and final day of testing is available on Tuesday.

Round 13 of the 2008 MotoGP World Championship takes place at Misano on August 31.

continued: (Toni Eias) succeeded in the most impressive way against VR in Portugal 06 - taking away the 5 points that Rossi needed in the Championship against "Colourless" Hayden - but I´d see Nicky unhurt for the rest of the season because there are not enough riders in that competition compared to the 125s, WSS or WSBK! If there are only 18 riders on the grid, they should give only points to the fastes ten riders like in former times! :? :? :?

I`d like to see the Qs forbidden! They fight on race tyres for the championship and development power could be used for better race tyres and take out a little cornerspeed - as discussed for safety reason, same with TC! And costs could be lowered, too! There is no spectator recognizing a Q without a look on the time-screen, I propose! Rossi made a visit to Eurosports commentators Moody/Ryder during the 125 race at Sachsenring! What a nice kind of character with a huge technical wisdom he is - and a wonderful co-commentator noticing every detail of the younger compatriots - it´s unbelieveable!
But it´s nice to see Toni Elias back on the rostrum, too. He succeeded in the most impressive way
