Loris Capirossi is eyeing a second consecutive podium result as he readies himself for his second home round of the season at Misano.
The Italian recorded Rizla Suzuki's third podium finish in a row last time out at Brno and now heads to the San Marino round of the series buoyed by a successful collective test in the Czech Republic.
Trialling a variety of news parts on the GSV-R, Capirossi posed the closest competition to Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi, form he believes he can replicate around Misano now that he is back to full fitness.
“We had a good test at Brno and now I go to my second home race after a podium, and after finding some really positive things in the test that will help us for the rest of the season and in the future. It was great for me to get a podium, but I know we can start pushing for more and that must be the next step!
“Everybody is working hard and now that I am back to full fitness I can push as hard as possible to try to make it happen. I am really looking forward to racing for Suzuki so close to my home town, and I know we will see many people in the Rizla Suzuki blue around the circuit cheering the team on!”
Capirossi, who could be confirmed with Suzuki for 2009 over the Misano weekend, is also set to pass the mark set by Alex Barros in order to become the most experienced MotoGP rider of all time. When he lines up on the grid at Misano, he will be making his 277th start.
