Unexpectedly, there was no 'special' celebration following Valentino Rossi's all-time record-equalling 68th premier-class win, which he achieved in front of his home fans at Misano on Sunday.

Perhaps that was due to countryman Giacomo Agostini - whose win record Rossi has tied - being surprising absent on Sunday, in marked contrast to Rossi's memorable celebration with Angel Nieto at Le Mans, after Rossi matched the Spaniard's 90 grand prix wins (in all classes)

Either way, Misano was a landmark moment in the history of motorcycle grand prix racing - and, with Rossi's home town of Tavullia just 15km from the circuit, it was perhaps appropriate that his post race celebrations were as much about the fans as any pre-planned 'show'.
