MotoGP ready to race at Indy.

The torrential rain which delayed the 250cc Indianapolis Grand Prix looks to have passed (for now) and the MotoGP race should start as planned at 3:00pm local time.

The race will start in fully wet conditions, although a commendable effort to clear the standing water has seen the use of everything from huge blowers towed behind 4x4s to marshals sweeping the water away with hand held brooms.

MotoGP riders had warned that racing would be impossible if, as on Friday, heavy rain flooded certain parts of the new road circuit.

The 250cc race is due to take place after the MotoGP event.

By my count they are one (1) lap short of being able to declare the race. I'm sure they need 75% of race distance complete to declare. That would be 21 laps and only 20 complete. An 8 lap wet sprint with aggregate times - there can only be disaster in that recipe. Jorge and Dovisioso are the only ones with anything to gain. The rest have it all to lose.
