Dovizioso `very happy` with wet debut.

New Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso was one of just seven riders to brave the rain during the second and final day of the Valencia test, on Tuesday, but found the effort well worth it.

The track was neither dry nor fully wet for much of the day so Dovizioso, like all those that eventual took to the track, waited until the closing two hours - when the rain increased - to make his Bridgestone wet tyre debut.

The young Italian complete 18 laps, with his best time good enough for second on the timesheets, just 0.009sec behind Ducati's Nicky Hayden, whose place Dovizioso has taken.

"I'm very happy with my second day of testing," said Dovizioso, who finished fifth in the 2008 world championship for JiR Team Scot. "Track conditions were not good today, the track was slippery, neither dry nor fully wet, so we had to wait for heavier rain before testing with rain tyres. We had only one set of tyres available.

"At the beginning grip wasn't good, then the team made some changes to the set-up, making consistent improvements. We did four or five runs, improving each time and in the end I did my fastest time on my last lap.

"We gathered a lot of important data that will be very useful, even in the dry. The new Bridgestone tyres require a completely different setting compared to what's required with Michelin tyres. I am also very happy with the team's method of working.

"I am learning the new bike and new tyres and I'm very excited about this new challenge," he concluded.

Team-mate Dani Pedrosa was among the majority of riders who decided against testing on Tuesday. The Spaniard will be back in action alongside Dovizioso during a two-day test at Jerez, on November 26-27.
