Despite complaining of the same old issues on Saturday afternoon, Andrea Iannone found some of his old mojo to top MotoGP morning warm-up at Silverstone.

The Italian had issues with GSX-RR’s turning and rear traction through qualifying, but, after following Maverick Viñales for the second half of the session, posted a time of 2m 1.622s to lead Marc Marqeuz by the narrowest of advantages.

Marquez was just nine thousandths slower after his final lap of the session, with home hero and front row sitter Cal Crutchlow a tenth back in third.

The Yamaha trio of Maverick Viñales (fourth), Valentino Rossi (fifth) and Johann Zarco (sixth) were all inside the top six, with times that suggest they will all be in the running at the front of this afternoon’s race.

Jonas Folger suffered a huge crash at Stowe Corner early into the session and was stretchered away and taken to the medical centre.

I somewhat have a hard time thinking that all problems he has had could be solved overnight. That being said, it would be nice to have him prove me wrong.

It was enough only for warm-up.

Rins will get the better from him. He needs a strong team mate to rise his game.

AR ended 9th AI ended 20th - AI most likely done in MotoGP for 2019, maybe 2018 if Suzuki finds someone better. - they could have signed Matia Pasini and he would have better results. also looks better and speaks better english.

Yeah its a shame what has happened to Iannone.  He was my favorite rider in the 2012 moto2 era (not to mention that livery of that bike was awesome) but the fact he was competing against marquez on speed up chassis and his will power to fight for position.  Even with Ducati I saw this as well even though he crashed a lot but he was always pushing.  I was excited to see him go to suzuki thinking like the style he had in moto2 but boy was I wrong.  He has been terrible this year.  Seems like he puts in no effort.  Not to mention dating a celebrity girlfirend never helps as well.  Just like Schwantz said seems like his mind is in different places.  He's still young so hopefully he turns it around and starts focusing on racing again.
