Marc Marquez led the MotoGP field in the warm-up, underlining his pace ahead of this afternoon’s all-important outing at Aragon, with Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro suggesting a surprise may be in the offing by posting the second fastest time.

The reigning world champion ended the session – delayed by over an hour due to early morning mist hugging the surrounding hills – more than three tenths of a second clear, and was the only rider to dip below the 1m 49s mark (1m 48.832s).

Jack Miller was third quickest, 0.658s back of Marquez’s time, while pole sitter Maverick Viñales was fourth. Cal Crutchlow (fifth) and Pol Espargaro (sixth) and the impressive KTM RC16 completed the top six.
