Andrea Iannone continues to lament his struggles with acceleration as the Ecstar Suzuki rider found his exit speed lacking once more at Sepang in Malaysia.

The Italian rider has been lifted by some strong results recently, including a solid sixth place last time out at Phillip Island in Australia after he was involved for the battle for the rostrum, but Iannone was 13th in the mixed conditions in FP1 on Friday and ninth in the wet FP2 session in the afternoon.

“I’m not really happy about this day because for sure I expected a little bit more performance. We struggled a lot in the exit of the corner in the acceleration point and we don’t have a good traction to accelerate well,” he said.

“Generally we have this problem in both situations, in dry and wet, and it is more or less the same in the conditions. On the wet it is a little bit better because everybody does not push so hard and the level is a little bit more low, but it is important that we try to improve this area and I hope for tomorrow that we have more performance on the track,” Iannone added.

“There’s a lot of spin and this keeps us from being as fast as we’d like. We will try to figure out why and how to solve this.”
