Spanish youngster Hector Barbera scored what should be the first of many World Championship victories on Sunday at Donington
Park, fending off a three-pronged challenge in an incident-packed 125cc race.
Barbera crossed the finishing line just six tenths of a second ahead of Andrea Dovisioso and 2.5secs clear of pole position winner Stefano Perugini, who was delayed on the final lap when he and Danny Pedrosa collided at the Melbourne Hairpin. Perugini continued, Pedrosa didn't.
Alex de Angelis and Casey Stoner
rounded out the top five although Arnaud Vincent's eighth place effort was arguably the performance of the day.
Assen winner Steve Jenkner crashed out of the opening lap.
