Moto2: Espargaro wins battle with Redding in Qatar

Marcel Schrotter continued to impress after qualifying ninth and held on to 13th on the Desguaces La Torre SAG bike in a competitive fight for positions in the lower order.

Nico Terol, a previous double winner at the track in the 125cc class, was 14th for Mapfre Aspar while former Moto2 champion Toni Elias took the final point for Blusens Avintia.

Sandro Cortese continued his learning curve on his move up to Moto2 at the Dynavolt Intact GP team positively and crossed the line 17th

JiR's Mike Di Meglio was 16th but caused Mattia Pasini to crash out and both will be summoned to race direction after the race.

British rookies Danny Kent of Tech3 and Blusens Avintia rider Kyle Smith placed 18th and 21st respectively.

Gresini rider Ratthapark Wilairot failed to finish after dropping down the order following a ride through penalty for a jump start. Ricky Cardus was sent to the medical centre after his accident left him with a suspected foot injury.

Ant West, Louis Rossi and Axel Pons also failed to go the distance.
