Azuma wins home Grand Prix.

Cecchinello slipstreamed past Poggiali into the 130R with Ui following him to demote Poggiali into third, Azuma moved into second at the first corner, before Ui swept inside him through the Esses.

Azuma lost momentum exiting the hairpin allowing Ui into the lead, but Azuma slipstreamed the Derbi on the long run up to the 130R, defended his line into the Chicane and took a jubilant race win in his home Grand Prix.

Simone Sanna did well to steal third in the final seconds of the race, while long time leader Cecchinello lost out in the last lap chaos to finish a disappointing sixth.
