I think that being on a 125cc last year and then 3 races on a 250cc and never ridden a moto gp bikes to be 3 seconds of the pace is good and the only way he can go is up how far who know. I said this last year Takahashi should have never gone to moto gp cos the bike is to strong/powerful for him and he was never ready to step up at the time the only reason he went up is cos the japs wanted a jap rider on that bike for me Hiroshi Aoyama would have been a better choice.
