2. With no pressure to win the GP title maybe Rossi and Yamaha are considering that much speculated "Wild card ride" that has been debated about for years. Rossi loves SBK and I have seen him at many races. Hence the test on pirelli's. Speculation on my part but possible.

He is just testing his fitness, but with the recent rambling between MGP Dorna and SBK Flamini, maybe slapping on some bridgestones on a SBK was viewed as an further encroachment with bridgestones obviously getting data from a 1000cc test (hint hint 2012). So Rossi had no choice but to run Pirelli's. Plus the news announced he was on a sterilgarda bike which is contracted to SBK and Pirelli threw up a flag.
