As you say Yamaha could have said nothing but chose to take the public line that Rossi - next year the enemy - is too aggressive.
What has been a virtue when it worked for Yamaha is now something to be countered. Perceptions of events need to be controlled and such public statements are a way of doing this.
If there is similar racing next year involving a Yamaha and Rossi (we the spectators can but hope) the line will come out again stronger.
