rawdawg, what about the test riders? arent they allowed to do all the testing and development they want back in japan? i guarantee you that is where 90% of development comes from. the stuff done on test days and on race weekends has more to do with personal rider set-up does it not? wsbk racers are simply great racers motogp racers are decent development guys, who unlike test/development riders, can handle the pressure of a race weekend as well as being great racers. i think the myth and nostalgia surrounding the development prowess of the motogp racer is great romanticized amongst us fans. these guys can handle all the variables at there disposal, but they aint responsible for those variables. much more of the work is done in japan than we like to believe. fact: racing = branding racing = japanese pride racing = moving billboards myths: racing = sales racing = development racers = great testers racing = sport
