Q: what is it with Denning and his belive so much in Hopkins? surely Hopper is more than a regular rider but why Denning didn't put Spies in that credit of trust? A: because hopkins is a known quantity to suzuki HQ. more specifically, a quantity willing to sacrifice their ambitions in exchange for a paycheck (rare find that). in contrast, spies came from the mladin/AMA/yosh suzuki effort. in support terms, the U.S. program is/was the "golden goose" of hammamatsu. if spies came, he would've come with expectations. costly expectations of R&D they sure as hell have no intent of fulfilling. suzuki aren't in gp's for the winning. never have been. denning did spies a favor.
