The fact that Stoner shut off his engine indicates 2 things. 1. He'd been told by the team to shut it off in the event of accident, to save the engine. 2. He didn't know that it'd be difficult as hell trying to bump start a Honda. Not because Stoner was not smart enough to keep it running.
