I think Lorenzo is just as smooth, if not smoother than rossi at this point. However I feel he is going to have to push the bike outside of his comfort zone if he's going to really make a few tenths up. With everyone on the same tires, you have the situation that stoner is quite simply riding the tires off the bike. he is drifting the bike harder, and really on the throttle harder and crazier than lorenzo. It's not just the top speed that is putting him out of reach, because look at dovizioso.
Dovi and Lorenzo have very similar very smooth styles. Casey is dirt tracking the honda and taking advantage of the electronics that allow such beautiful perfect slip angle without destroyign and smoking the tires up too much, combined with a chassis that is very forgiving for this style.
Lorenzo needs more than just power, he needs to trade smoothness for chance taking and outright speed.
