Riders success can be measured in many different ways, objectively or subjectively. Sure, fans have their own preferred riders and their judgements would be somewhat biased (mine too, I suppose). But fortunately, MotoGP has a method called the 'scoring system', which already takes into account: skill, equipment, pace, consistency and even luck. Therefore, the most objective way to measure the best rider is using MotoGP method (they're all well documented). And so far, Rossi is still the best of the current riders.
