I don't think anybody is really making too much of the Rossi thing, despite the headline. It was just a good solid ride from Cal that indicated some real progress as a MotoGP rider.
I wouldn't be surprised though if the recent fortunes of the Tech 3 riders were reversed this weekend. Colin went really well here last year, beating Spies to finish 5th, while Motegi is one of those stop-and-go circuits with heavy braking points that have given Crutchlow problems this year. If he can again show the level of confidence he had in Aragon, then maybe the setup/front end problems really are over with.
Engine performance from the Tech 3 bikes could again be an issue for both though. Esp. on that 6th-gear back straight.
