I'd be surprised if he was anywhere near fit by Valencia though. Soft tissue injuries around the ribs are notoriously slow to heal. Edwards suffered very similar injuries at the same time as he broke his collarbone, and long after the break had healed he was still having big problems with the ribs. Even at Mugello, a month after his accident, he was finding it tough. Absolutely the right decision to pull Ben out though. If it was up to him he no doubt would have raced, but his team and management have done the right thing and put his safety first.
