@ BJR...I know all about flags at half-mast... but you are comparing one possibly unknown individual (albeit respected) over a larger base of 100s of thousands of people versus 17 riders. Motogp is a much smaller "business" and the ripple effect of losing a star in this smaller family carries more weight for the actions they will take.
If Gresini decides not to run or compete in Valencia, DORNA will not enforce their contract due to extenuating circumstances. It would be a terrible image for the sport and for DORNA if they fined Gresini for this and really DORNA would gain nothing by doing so except lost of respect and possible boycott by the current riders. I believe that they have considered this possibility and out of respect for SIC would allow Gresini the lead way of making their own decisions on whether to race or not.
