If Dorna really wants to make a 2013 full CRT Championship, which is something still not confirmed, I still think MotoGP will be viable. As long as there are streetbike engines available, there will always be engineers willing to squeeze them and join them with a specially-developed frame to be faster than a SBK.
This is what they couldn't do before and has almost brought private MotoGP teams to bankruptcy, because they depended on the brands to get their bikes, and the brands dictated the conditions and the prices. Whoever who tried to develop his own bike (Ilmor, Roberts) simply couldn't keep up with the massive costs.
Dorna and the FIM knew it and have acted accordingly.
