(Sigh...) Same old stuff.
Crutchlow in 09 lapped Donny quicker than a 500GP bike EVER did.
A 140bhp bike with limited electronics and road legal tyres!!! Motorbikes are fast, and unless circuits could adapt to be safer, they had to be slowed- hence the 800s.
GP bike can now use *all* of their power thanks to antiwheelie and TC, whereas in the early 990 era it wasn't as advanced. People would lose time in some areas, gain in others and you'd get a more active race.
You don't need 1000cc factory 250bhp monsters for good racing, just a chassis that offers feel and bikes that are within a few hp of each other.
800cc bikes with elongated service intervals, 190bhp and no electronics would've been mega. Like Moto2, just faster!
That wsn't going to happen so instead we have CRT regs. Cheap, fast and dirty. Can't wait to see one on a podium.
