@billace, whilst agreeing with most of what you post, surely you would have to agree there comes a point when the economics of these advanced electronics surpasses their usefulness, especially given the fact only a select few can afford the infrastructure to use them properly, also the arena for their use is tiny in a global sense.
You have already pointed out that the first RC211V didn't need such complexety of it's electronics to provide arguably better racing. Absolutely it has very little crossover to road bikes as they simply do not need it, and as you said it has not improved safety one jot.
All it does is add unnecessary cost IMO.
