At this level, the very pinnacle of road racing, riders are under public scrutiny. As world champ it helps all and sundry involved if you can talk positively with a smile on your face, maybe throw in a joke or two for good measure. It'called PR and the businesses that stump up money to pay big wages like to see a return on that investment. It's clear that some have no idea whatsoever how it all works. Like him or loathe him Rossi understands this. Stoner despises it and would rather race or go home without giving any thing back to the sport which has made him a very wealthy young man.
