Yamaha no doubt are the true innovators n experts at 2 stroke machinery. Their 250 alone had the innovative reverse cylinder (spr models used for both gp n production races). Their 2 strokes are far more powerful than Honda, whose forte is 4 stroke. But Honda made reliable engines n bikes with good handling n rideability. The Yam strokers were too powerful, too difficult to ride with too much engine damage. The spr 250s required engine rebuild after almost every race to stop pistons seizing.
