I doubt this will have much effect on anything so long as they make money. As reported by Credit Suisse, the purchase is seen more as a trophy for Ferdinand Piech who could have bought Ducati in 1985 for peanuts. Ever since then has wanted to include a motorcycle manufacturer in their group.
There partnership with Suzuki went sour and Suzuki are trying to buying back the 19% shareholding, but that was more about the cars than the bikes.
