It comes down to what division gets financial decision responsibility for Ducati, R&D, marketing,etc.
You also have to wonder what the CRT push will mean in the future. Ducati doesn't have a production based engine to fit the rules. Will they be funded to continue on with prototype development or focus their efforts where they can compete with their production machines? MotoGp just might not be a good fit in the future and not be worth the investment compared with WSBK which helped build the brand.
Some interesting corporate decisions to come...and probably a fair amount of pandering too.
