It's all very well saying that Redding should lose weight but if you're that much bigger and try to get down to the weight of a Marquez or Pedrosa, you're bound to lose both strength and stamina. Remember how Redding suffered in the heat of Sepang? Even if he managed to lose the weight, he'd still have an aerodynamic disadvantage trying to tuck in behind a screen/fairing of the same size. Accelerating and braking an extra 15kg will increase tyre wear, and fuel consumption will be affected by both weight and height. Being small and light has some disadvantages too, which means trying to come up with a fair handicap would be like running twins and fours together, and nobody in their right mind would think a formula could be devised to race those together when they each have their own unique strengths and weaknesess.....
