From reading this article, you could pretty much say Ducati have abandoned any thought of a championship with this bike. It looks to me 2012 will be a development year with the hope of a podium or even a possible race win, but as it stands at the moment there will have to be a massive improvement from this team with there upcomming upgrades. Valentino and Nicky will have to like what they are given and hope to hell that the upgraded engine, works with the current chasis. On the other side of things with all the rumours pointing towards a possible split between Valentino and Ducati, this engine upgrade might be the final straw for Valentino, on making up his mind to his future if the upgrades are to make a radical improvement propelling him to the front of the race instead of being mid pack. I some how don't think Valentino would like to end his career on a bike that doesn't suit his riding style.
