You hit the nail on the head pcxmac. The problem here is the lack of testing.
That's a loaded question, but surely more than what is currently allowed/available. The Ducati didn't begin to "develop" until 2011 (not a lot was done when Stoner rode it....and that's not casting blame at Stoner), and the front end cure is proving effective this season. It's evident in rider confidence (watching Rossi now tells the story) and the lack of crashes.
