Technically Elias won the Moto2 championship in 2010, prior to coming back to MotoGP in 2011. Where he found nothing but trouble on a Honda, and has since ran back to Moto2, where he's currently in 12th place overall with a best finish of 7th.
Your point is still valid, Elias won the mid-class championship, before going back to GP. Historically the champ of 250cc and now Moto2 tends to move up to GP, at least for a year. Bradley's really got to show more before deserving a ride in GP.
