The result is made even more impressive by the fact that Cal admitted after the race that despite him telling track medics the hospital had cleared him to ride the opposite was true they told him not to ride or weight bear on his foot at all.
He had broken & dislocated his ankle rather than badly spraining it as was said originally.
Compare this to a footballer who is out for weeks if they stub a toe.
