Yes it was stupid rule, but this Spanish abuse is something else. The rule hasnt been abolished because he is Spainish, its because of sponsorship issues. Marquez has an agreement with Repsol, if he joins the LCR team that means that Lucho Cechenello has to throw away his years with Elf. If he joins the Gresini team then that means that Fausto Gresini has to throw away his years with Castrol. Its not HRC and Repsol Honda pressing Dorna to abolish it, its the whole of MotoGP are trying to get rid of it. The idea of the rule was to come in, and help the smaller teams, where in this case all it will do is hinder the smaller teams for a one year deal before he heads off to the factory team! As for all the american hardships, who excatly was Spies going to replace in the factory Yamaha side in 2010?? You had Lorenzo and Rossi in the team, both with 1 years on their contract!
