Allow me to refresh your memory, Spies had multiple podiums on his two year old satellite mount in his rookie year. The fact that Dovi believed that it was his great strategy that allowed him to podium was laughable, never mind the multiple hand sized chunks missing from Spies rear tire. Also any fan of GP will tell you that in any first year after a displacement change that the satellite bikes are very near the equals of the factory bikes in every spec. So the things that you are marveling at, are really not that spectacular.
